Where the numbers come from

Every dollar figure, percentage, and threshold used across our calculators is drawn directly from the official California agency responsible for it — CARB and DriveClean.ca.gov for EV incentives, CPUC and utility filings for CARE/FERA/LIHEAP, the Department of Industrial Relations for wage and hour rules, and the Board of Equalization for property tax figures. We link to the official source on every tool page.

How we track staleness

Each figure is stored with an effective date range, not just a bare number. When a program's numbers reset annually (like CARE income limits each June 1) or on a fixed cycle (like the Prop 19 exclusion cap every two years), that reset date is built into the data itself, so a tool can never silently show an expired figure without it being flagged internally first.

Reviewer disclosure

We are in the process of engaging a California-licensed attorney or CPA to review the legal and tax calculators on this site. Until that review is in place, treat every result as an educational estimate based on our own reading of the published rules, not as a professionally reviewed determination — and always verify anything financially or legally significant with a licensed professional or the issuing agency directly.
