Income is the prior-prior year's (2024 for 2026-27) adjusted gross income plus untaxed income, for you and your spouse, or for your parents if you're a dependent. The standard is 150% of the federal poverty guidelines (California Code of Regulations, title 5, section 58620).

Special classifications also qualify, including dependents of deceased or disabled veterans and California National Guard members, Medal of Honor recipients and their dependents, and dependents of law enforcement or firefighters killed in the line of duty.

Keeping it: the grant can be lost after two consecutive fall or spring terms with a cumulative GPA below 2.0, or with half or fewer of your attempted units completed. It covers only the enrollment fee, not health, parking or materials fees, or the upper-division fee in community college bachelor's programs. Apply with the FAFSA, the California Dream Act Application or your college's CCPG application.
